I was born unwanted.
Unnecessary in that pitiless person’s life;
thrown out as refuse with kitchen trash;
a back-lot dumpster became my tomb;
the sad collection box of superfluous waste;
that hideaway of unclaimed mistakes.
.
I was weaned in friendship.
Fortuitously found of fate before death;
a hand of kindness invitingly extended;
a touch, a stroke, an embrace of warmth;
a cradle of patience instills a hope,
which swells with each breath of self worth.
.
I live in love.
Sharing a life of panoramic views
with him and her and Willow, who
bore a lonely year, before I was;
having known the same rejection,
which is forgotten now in the peace of love.
